- 01 → DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER'S HEIGHT AND BUILD. IS SHE HEAVYSET, THIN, SHORT, RANGY?
Rebecca is 5'10" and 125lbs. She's fit and long-limbed, but not very physically strong or imposing.
02 → HOW OLD IS SHE?
Twenty-five.
03 → DESCRIBE HER POSTURE. DOES SHE CARRY HERSELF WELL OR DOES SHE SLOUCH?
Rebecca's posture is impeccable - she stands very straight and doesn't slouch. A lot of the time, her arms are crossed and her body language is closed. This can be intentional, but it usually isn't.
04 → HOW IS HER HEALTH? IS SHE FIT OR OUT OF SHAPE? ANY ILLNESSES OR CONDITIONS? ANY PHYSICAL DISABILITIES?
Very healthy, with no chronic illnesses.
05 → HOW DOES SHE MOVE? IS SHE CLUMSY, GRACEFUL, TENSE, FLUID?
Often tense or on guard, which can lead to some awkwardness, such as struggling with a heavy load or getting sandwiched between closing elevator doors, but in most situations she manages to get along just fine.
06 → HOW ATTRACTIVE IS THIS CHARACTER PHYSICALLY? HOW DOES SHE PERCEIVE HERSELF IN THE MIRROR?
Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, symmetrical features, model height and in the prime of life. It makes her good psycho bait. When she's not undercover, she likes to look plain and professional. She is aware that she's attractive but only cares about it insofar as it helps her with her job.
07 → DESCRIBE HER COMPLEXION. DARK, LIGHT, CLEAR, SCARRED?
Light. Rebecca doesn't tan easily, and she doesn't take the time to tan at all. She has no immediately visible scars except for a pair of lengthwise lacerations on her wrists (not self-inflicted, but she was attacked to make it appear as a suicide) but there are likely some light marks on her shoulders, wrists and ankles from old, old rope burns.
08 → DESCRIBE HER HAIR: COLOR, TEXTURE, STYLE.
Light blonde, very straight. For work she styles it plainly - makes it sleek and presentable, but otherwise unnoteworthy.
09 → WHAT COLOR ARE HER EYES?
Greyish blue.
10 → DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE ANY OTHER NOTEWORTHY FEATURES?
No, generic blonde 10 about covers it.
11 → WHAT ARE HER CHIEF TENSION CENTERS?
Her hands and arms, which she wrings and crosses constantly.
12 → WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S WARDROBE LIKE? CASUAL, DRESSY, UTILITARIAN? BRIGHT COLORS, PASTELS, NEUTRALS? IS IT VARIED, OR DOES SHE HAVE SIX OF THE SAME SUIT?
Pastels or whites with dark pant suits. She doesn't wear skirts, and her wardrobe mostly consists of whatever flatters her that's in style at the time. Rebecca doesn't have an opinion on her clothes beyond looking professional.
13 → DO HER CLOTHES FIT WELL? DOES SHE SEEM COMFORTABLE IN THEM?
Yes, and Rebecca tries to look comfortable in whatever she puts on, as long as there's a purpose for it. She can wear a miniskirt while undercover as a bar hopper, but if she were going on a date herself and had to wear something that revealing, she would feel awkward.
14 → DOES SHE DRESS THE SAME ON THE JOB AS SHE DOES IN HER FREE TIME? IF NOT, WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES?
What she wears off-hours always covers her arms and legs, and usually consists of a light or pastel colour paired with neutrals and jeans. The tones are a bit more casual and less strict, but the spirit is generally the same. Whatever's in the catalogue that's stylish and reasonably conservative.
15 → YOU KNEW IT WAS COMING: BOXERS, BRIEFS OR COMMANDO?
Boy shorts or briefs. Rebecca's underwear tends to be as neutral as her clothes - tans or pastels, unpatterned and without accents.
[✘] speech.
- 01 → WHAT DOES THIS CHARACTER'S VOICE SOUND LIKE? HIGH-PITCHED, DEEP, HOARSE?
Feminine and very soft. Rebecca is as soft-spoken as possible while still speaking to be heard. When she yells it's very harsh and a little hoarse, and sadly not very intimidating.
02 → HOW DOES SHE NORMALLY SPEAK? LOUD, SOFT, FAST, EVENLY? DOES SHE TALK EASILY, OR DOES SHE HESITATE?
Rebecca speaks at a moderate pace. In professional situations, her tone is clear and consistent, but in social interactions, she can find herself hesitating and speaking softer.
03 → DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE A DISTINCT ACCENT OR DIALECT? ANY INDIVIDUAL QUIRKS OF PRONUNCIATION? ANY, LIKE, YOU KNOW, VERBAL TICS?
She has no accent, but she does pause on occasion, or stop to correct herself and take her sentence in another direction (when she does this, she tends to use the word "just" a lot).
04 → WHAT LANGUAGE/S DOES SHE SPEAK, AND WITH HOW MUCH FLUENCY?
English is her first language, and she speaks Russian fluently, due to her work in counterterrorism. She probably knows some key phrases of other relevant languages, such as some Arabic dialects, but they aren't her forte.
05 → DOES SHE SWITCH LANGUAGES OR DIALECTS IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS?
No, though she'll speak Russian to a Russian individual, and keeps herself in practice with foreign films. If extremely stressed or frustrated, she may curse in Russian, but it would be a rare occasion indeed.
06 → IS SHE A GOOD IMPROMPTU SPEAKER, OR DOES SHE HAVE TO THINK ABOUT HER WORDS?
Rebecca is generally a good impromptu speaker professionally - it's when it comes to her own opinions and interests that she begins to hesitate, not so much because she is thinking about her words more than usual, but because the consequences of airing them changes.
07 → IS SHE ELOQUENT OR INARTICULATE? UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES MIGHT THIS CHANGE?
Possessing a very good vocabulary, Rebecca is generally well spoken, and can sometimes err on the side of formality. She becomes inarticulate when she's uncomfortable or is too focused on the immediate need to be alone to care much about what she's saying.
[✘] mental & emotional.
- 01 → HOW INTELLIGENT IS THIS CHARACTER? IS SHE BOOK-SMART OR STREET-SMART?
Both, though she's certainly more book smart than she is street smart (her street smart refined to pretty much "don't trust anyone," and that's about it).
02 → DOES SHE THINK ON HER FEET, OR DOES SHE NEED TIME TO DELIBERATE?
She absolutely thinks on her feet, which can lead to reckless, though not baseless, decisions.
03 → DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER'S THOUGHT PROCESS. IS SHE MORE LOGICAL, OR MORE INTUITIVE? IDEALISTIC OR PRACTICAL?
Rebecca is logical to a fault. The end is more important than the means to her, and it can lead to her endangering herself in order to accomplish her goals. She understands idealism but finds it personally inaccessible due to her past, and so she is very practical, to the point that it may turn others off.
04 → WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION HAS THE CHARACTER HAD?
Pre-school and elementary school before her abduction. After her abduction, she tried attending elementary school again, but all the attention was too much. From age twelve to fourteen she was homeschooled, but once her family moved and changed her name, she attended a public high school. Following that, Rebecca enrolled in the University of Seattle, graduating with a Bachelors of Science, and then the FBI academy in Quantico.
05 → WHAT ARE HER AREAS OF EXPERTISE? WHAT, IF ANYTHING, IS SHE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT?
Statistics, analysis, and physics. Rebecca is good with numbers, as mathematical and scientific problems always have solutions. Since she took an interest in profiling in university, she's also pursued psychology courses, and now finds more enjoyment in figuring out the human puzzle.
06 → IS SHE AN INTROVERT OR AN EXTROVERT?
Rebecca herself is an introvert for obvious reasons - extremely private and intensely guarded. As needed for her job, she can become extroverted, but those are the personas of other people.
07 → DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER'S TEMPERAMENT. IS SHE EVEN-TEMPERED OR DOES SHE HAVE MOOD SWINGS? CHEERFUL OR MELANCHOLY? LAID-BACK OR DRIVEN?
Her baseline is quiet and analytical; disturbingly calm with perhaps a touch of melancholy. She thinks infinitely more than she talks. One has to be either fairly sick or fairly persistent to get under her skin, as Rebecca is not very emotional, and even if something upsets her, most often she will try not to express it.
08 → HOW DOES SHE RESPOND TO NEW PEOPLE OR SITUATIONS? IS SHE SUSPICIOUS, RELAXED, TIMID, ENTHUSIASTIC?
Timid and suspicious, and very quiet. Rebecca doesn't "put herself out there" and doesn't meet new people unless she's deliberately introduced or it's otherwise unavoidable - or she's responding to some physiological needs.
09 → IS SHE MORE LIKELY TO ACT, OR TO REACT?
Act, when it comes to work, which lands her in a lot of trouble most of the time; react, when it comes to play.
10 → WHICH IS HER DEFAULT: FIGHT OR FLIGHT?
Fight, when it's something she very much believes in (especially when it comes to work). Flight, when it's personal or encroaching upon her social comfort zone.
11 → DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER'S SENSE OF HUMOR. DOES SHE APPRECIATE JOKES? PUNS? GALLOWS HUMOR? BATHROOM HUMOR? PRANKS?
She appreciates most kinds of intelligent or goofy humour, though she doesn't engage in it often herself. Her own sense of humour, when it does make an appearance, is dark or sarcastic depending on the situation.
12 → DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE ANY DIAGNOSABLE MENTAL DISORDERS? IF YES, HOW DOES SHE DEAL WITH THEM?
She occasionally has to confront the remnants of post-traumatic stress disorder. Rather than talk to anyone about it, however, she prefers to file it away and concentrate on work or her hobbies (of which she has very few, so most often it's just work).
13 → WHAT MOMENTS IN THIS CHARACTER'S LIFE HAVE DEFINED HER AS A PERSON?
The eighteen months spent with her abductor as a child, the fire she started in order to escape (that killed three people), being cornered at her school for an interview, and her brother paying a group of girls to socialise with her.
14 → WHAT DOES SHE FEAR?
Fire, ground-floor open windows, being bound, and she's not especially fond of surprises in general.
15 → WHAT ARE HER HOPES OR ASPIRATIONS?
To put a lot of bad people away (and, distantly, in some little shriveled up corner, to realise herself as a normally functioning individual without debilitating trust issues).
16 → WHAT IS SOMETHING SHE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO FIND OUT ABOUT HER?
That she used to be Becky George, and that in order to escape she had to kill her abductor. (She hopes she killed him, anyway. Protip: She didn't. She just doesn't know that.)
[✘] relationships.
- 01 → DESCRIBE THIS CHARACTER'S RELATIONSHIP WITH HER PARENTS.
Tenuous. Rebecca loves her parents, and her parents love her. For the most part they respect her wishes not to call attention to her abduction, but Rebecca often feels that whenever she walks into a room, there's an elephant following right behind. Her relationship with her parents is mostly superficial, though by now she's perfected the Well-Adjusted Daughter act. It's why when she slips up, her parents can't hide their reactions (they're still open, considerably trusting people), and it hurts Rebecca to have them look at her that way. She prefers to communicate with them over the phone or email rather than visit them personally.
02 → DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE ANY SIBLINGS? WHAT IS/WAS THEIR RELATIONSHIP LIKE?
Rebecca has one older brother and a sister-in-law with a niece or nephew on the way. Her brother (who I've yet to give a name to) is arguably her best friend. When they're together, they still get along well, and now that they've both matured, he knows not to treat her like she's glass. However, the damage was still done when Rebecca was young, and he still pushes her to be more social and concentrate on things other than work, which is usually when she tunes him out.
03 → ARE THERE OTHER BLOOD RELATIVES TO WHOM SHE IS CLOSE? ARE THERE ONES SHE CAN'T STAND?
She has an aunt with two sons, none of which she can tolerate very well. Her aunt insisted on doting on her after her abduction and was constantly starting fights with Rebecca's father over how Rebecca getting taken was his fault. Her sons were too young at the time to understand boundaries and wanted to ask Rebecca all sorts of questions. Out of everyone in her family, they agree the least with how she's chosen to deal with the consequences of her trauma, and still insist on calling her Becky.
04 → ARE THERE OTHER, UNRELATED PEOPLE WHOM SHE CONSIDERS PART OF HER FAMILY? WHAT ARE HER RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM?
No.
05 → WHO IS/WAS THE CHARACTER'S BEST FRIEND? HOW DID THEY MEET?
The closest thing she has to a best friend is her brother.
06 → DOES SHE HAVE OTHER CLOSE FRIENDS?
They're not close, exactly, but the next closest people are her coworkers. Still, they know very little about her aside from what they can read in her FBI profile, medical history, or unlicensed biography.
07 → DOES SHE MAKE FRIENDS EASILY, OR DOES SHE HAVE TROUBLE GETTING ALONG WITH PEOPLE?
She has a terrible time of getting along with people, not that she minds. Rebecca finds it too hard to make friends - too hard and too risky. Plus a lot of people give up or lose interest in her after discovering how awkward and distant she is.
08 → WHICH DOES SHE CONSIDER MORE IMPORTANT: FAMILY OR FRIENDS?
Family.
09 → IS THE CHARACTER SINGLE, MARRIED, DIVORCED, WIDOWED? HAS SHE BEEN MARRIED MORE THAN ONCE?
Single, almost terminally.
10 → IS SHE CURRENTLY IN A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE OTHER THAN A SPOUSE?
No.
11 → WHO WAS HER FIRST CRUSH? WHO IS HER LATEST?
Her first crush was her brother's best friend, when she was nine. Her last crush was a bartender name Corey, but she abandoned it after a cruel remark from Web led her to believe she would only be trapping him with her issues.
12 → WHAT DOES SHE LOOK FOR IN A ROMANTIC PARTNER?
Trust, above everything. Security, patience, some extroversion to battle her introversion but not enough to make her feel attacked.
13 → DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE CHILDREN? GRANDCHILDREN? IF YES, HOW DOES SHE RELATE TO THEM? IF NO, DOES SHE WANT ANY?
Rebecca doesn't have children, nor does she want any. She doesn't want the burden of having to protect them - or, more accurately, is afraid of a reality in which she can't.
14 → DOES SHE HAVE ANY RIVALS OR ENEMIES?
Only the criminals she puts away - but most of them wind up dying or killing themselves, because that's how the VCU does things.
15 → WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S SEXUAL ORIENTATION? WHERE DOES SHE FALL ON THE KINSEY SCALE?
A one on the Kinsey scale, Rebecca is completely straight.
16 → HOW DOES SHE FEEL ABOUT SEX? HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO HER?
It's a perfectly natural physiological need and nothing more. It's taken her a long time to come to that point; she understands all the things it can mean for other people, but an urge is all it is to her. Since she has no romantic partner, she will have the occasional one-night-stand, but she's extremely selective about who she takes home.
17 → WHAT ARE HER TURN-ONS? TURN-OFFS? WEIRD BEDROOM HABITS?
She likes cologne, clean hands and nails, short and well-kempt hair. She's drastically turned off by bondage, and expresses only a general disinterest in other kinks, as she doesn't usually have sex for fun. (She barely experiments with her shampoo, you think she's going to experiment with her rolls in the hay?) Weird bedroom habits are that she sleeps with a gun beside her bed, and when sleeping in an unfamiliar room, she has to memorise the outlines and shadows before she can close her eyes.
[✘] beliefs
- 01 → DO YOU KNOW YOUR CHARACTER'S ASTROLOGICAL (ZODIAC OF CHOICE) SIGN? HOW WELL DOES SHE FIT TYPE?
I don't and I've yet to assign her a birthday. When I do I'll come back to this question. ♥
02 → IS THIS CHARACTER RELIGIOUS, SPIRITUAL, BOTH, OR NEITHER? HOW IMPORTANT ARE THESE ELEMENTS IN HER LIFE?
Neither. Rebecca stopped believing in a lot of things when she was ten. God was one of them.
03 → DOES THIS CHARACTER HAVE A PERSONAL CODE OF MORALS OR ETHICS? IF SO, HOW DID THAT BEGIN? WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO COMPROMISE IT?
The world is dark and unfair, and people shouldn't be trusted; the only person you can rely on, when things go from bad to worse to complete shitstorm, is yourself. To compromise it, it would probably take a significant rescue.
04 → HOW DOES SHE REGARD BELIEFS THAT DIFFER FROM HERS? IS SHE TOLERANT, INTOLERANT, CURIOUS, INDIFFERENT?
She's respectful, though she feels no trepidation in declaring her own beliefs. She won't start arguments - intentionally - and she is curious as to why believe what they do, especially if it's a religion they chose.
05 → WHAT PREJUDICES DOES SHE HOLD? ARE THEY IRRATIONAL OR DOES SHE HAVE A GOOD REASON FOR THEM?
Rebecca is very prejudiced against criminals. Though she's not the best at killing them herself, when they die in order for her unit to protect the victim, she doesn't feel any remorse. She also has a prejudice against people who take their own life; she considers them too weak to fight for themselves, or else finds them difficult to understand. Since Rebecca can try and see things from a lot of viewpoints, when there's one she can't access, it severely annoys her.
[✘] daily life.
- 01 → WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S FINANCIAL SITUATION? IS SHE RICH, POOR, COMFORTABLE, IN DEBT?
She works for the government, so she's comfortable - even more comfortable in that she doesn't spend most of her money on expensive luxuries like furniture or vacations.
02 → WHAT IS HER SOCIAL STATUS? HAS THIS CHANGED OVER TIME, AND IF SO, HOW HAS THE CHANGE AFFECTED HER?
Upper middle class. She was a reluctant celebrity for a brief period when she was a child, and remains to be to those who remember Becky George, but she's distrustful of people who insist on inquiring about that part of her life.
03 → WHERE DOES SHE LIVE? HOUSE, APARTMENT, TRAILER? IS HER HOME HER CASTLE OR JUST A PLACE TO CRASH? WHAT CONDITION IS IT IN? DOES SHE SHARE IT WITH OTHERS?
Rebecca lives in a second floor apartment, and it's essentially just the place she sleeps and where she keeps her leftovers cold. It's a bit messy, but mostly sparse: when her coworkers go there looking for her, her bed is just a mattress on the floor, all her clothes are still in her suitcases or strewn over top of them, her fridge is empty except for some thai leftovers, as is her cupboard but for one plate, and aside from a computer and a wall full of headlines and post-its the only furnishings are the cheap ones (like a plastic chair) that the place came with. And that's after six months of living there. Since then, Rebecca's tried to live in a bit more: she's bought a dresser and a bedframe, made use of her closet, and gotten some more cooking ware and food, though she still can't make anything more than barely edible.
04 → BESIDES THE BASIC NECESSITIES, WHAT DOES SHE SPEND HER MONEY ON?
Very little. Most of her money goes to clothes, gas, bills, and food. She's fairly terrible at personalising things so she hasn't gone to much effort to decorate her apartment, and she doesn't have company so there's no point in filling it with much (though this has started to change).
05 → WHAT DOES SHE DO FOR A LIVING? IS SHE GOOD AT IT? DOES SHE ENJOY IT, OR WOULD SHE RATHER BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE?
She's a criminal profiler for the FBI, Los Angeles Violent Crimes Unit. She's exceptionally good at it, and it's what she'd rather be doing at most moments of the day.
06 → WHAT ARE HER INTERESTS OR HOBBIES? HOW DOES SHE SPEND HER FREE TIME?
What few hobbies Rebecca has aren't very exciting. She likes used books, and will drop into shops to pick up whatever looks interesting. She exchanges or trades back everything as soon as she's done with it, which lets her build up quite a credit. She rents movies sometimes, Russian films when she can (with the subtitles off) to keep her skill with the language in use, and through many nights channel flipping has one or two shows she will tune into watch when she actually remembers. For the most part, though, any time she spends not at work she still spends working, putting together case pitches or pursuing her own leads independently.
07 → WHAT ARE HER EATING HABITS? DOES SHE SKIP MEALS, EAT OUT, DRINK ALCOHOL, AVOID CERTAIN FOODS?
Rebecca doesn't eat a lot, but when she does get hungry, she'll eat whatever's close by or looks good - which means she eats out ninety-nine percent of the time. If she drinks, it's a beer or a cocktail, and only one - she stays away from hard, straight liquor. She doesn't like overly sweet foods and she has an aversion to blueberries.
